Sheep visit!
Dizzy arrived in NC on a Friday night, and was too worn out from travelling to do much. Saturday morning he was up bright and early and went to the Scrap Exchange,
the farmer’s market, where he was disappointed by the lack of clover for sale -- seriously, what gives? Then he went to the craft market and had a good time hanging out with the crafty and glamorous ladies of OJ Designs.
Afterwards, he made a new friend!
Major, the Durham Bull:
I wonder what secret Dizzy is telling him?
Sunday morning, Dizzy was delighted to find that durham string thing was having a surprise party for him! (not really, but don’t tell him, OK?). valerienc, in purple in the middle, made a special trip just to visit him! (and is knitting with some Dizzy yarn, too!)
We also toured Duke’s campus and Dizzy met with James B Duke. He is seriously considering higher education.
Soon Dizzy will be on his way to his next destination -- bye Dizzy! It was fun having you! Tulio helped me wrap him up with lots of tape so he can reach his next stop safely. "Ya se va" he said, sounding disappointed.
Also today we dragged the heaps of leaves from the front yard and spread them around in the spot in the back yard that will be our garden next year. Any suggestions for free/cheap local sources of nitrogen? The bunny poops a lot but she isn't producing at quite the level we need.
I also made this cake http://thecookieshopinenglish.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/best-apple-cake-of-the-whole-wide-world/ and it was reaaaaaaallly good -- it could do with less oil (the apples make it really moist) and I should have used something tarter than galas, but it was stil reaaaaaaallllly good.
