why buses won't fix it

because on a day like today, with a jumper on the bridge and an accident in the battery st tunnel, there is nothing buses can do. so i sit in traffic with everybody else when a rail system would be zipping around all this, perfectly unaffected ( Read more... )

I find myself extremely unsympathetic to suicide attempts that close down a whole section of the city. Suicide is the ultimate selfish act, being a bridge jumper makes it x2, and augh. It's such an insincere move. If someone truly wanted to commit suicide and not be persuaded out of it, they would a) do it at home or b) jump at night. Being a daytime jumper just seems like a drama queen move, even if they do eventually jump.

(And why is it always Aurora? Never I-5, the University District bridge or the Ballard bridge. Never tall buildings. Always the Aurora bridge.)

The University, Fremont and Ballard bridges are too short to be effective jump spots. Pedestrians are not allowed on the I-5 bridge, or the roofs of most tall buildings.
