so
the discussions on the lcms lutherans facebook group can be hilarious
there's this one where people argue about screens in church
whatever your view on that, i just posted on there about what i think we should switch over too...
new hymnal imagine having several of these in the pew racks
you pull it out, unfurl it, and displayed would be the current part of the service
it could be tastefully animated with subtle transitions to allow members to "stay on track" and get rid of the unnecessary parts for that particular service
the appropriate seasonal responses and propers could be isolated as well
all displays would be linked to display the same content, but you could still "browse" if you wanted
this could all be supplemented with large displays
pastors could provide outlines to sermons
bible readings would pop up and be interactive where worshipers could find other references, compare alternate versions, take notes on the text, etc...
during hymns, the chosen verses could be displayed and each member could isolate their appropriate voice line in the music
they could even have child-appropriate content during the sermon if necessary
i don't now how that would work especially, but it seems possible
members could bring their own displays from home and sync to the church's set to update things like announcements, prayer lists, devotionals, etc...
too bad this isn't coming out any time soon...
...i'd be in line
