just watched battle: los angeles and successfully wasted an hour and fifty minutes of my life. no emotional hook whatsoever, the characters were painfully flat and the whole film seemed to stumble from one major plot point to the next on nothing but explosions and gunfire. and i say that as someone who adores action films. i get all goosebumpy when a good battle/fight scene plays through, but that film had no merit at all. loud bangs and pretty mushroom clouds of fire does not a good action film make. i'm sorry, it just doesn't. i remember watching independence day, now THAT was a good action film, but this? it seems hollywood had a bucket load of cash it wanted to spend on a different type of drivel and they thought an action film suited the bill. fails all around.
