Back in the saddle again. Up to the same old tricks. Nose back to the grind stone and all that other good shit...
The trip taking the kids back was successful enough, I guess. Alan was sick on the way there and Brandon got sick about 2 hours after we arrived, but it still came to be that 2 adults, 2 kids and 4 mice all arrived safely and in record time. hooray! Tearful goodbyes (on my part. the kids handle it all amazingly well...) and then Eli and I spent the next 2 days enjoying all that New Orleans has to offer. Lots of great food, sightseeing, shopping, ghost tours and, of course, liquor. He caught blue beads thrown off a balcony for me, we burned voo-doo candles to help with the kidney infection I'd been battling and to top it all off, I got my nose pierced! go me!! All sadness and meloncholy in regards to the kids was temporarily forgotten. Until... the ride home. More tears there and sporadically throughout the days that have followed, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was last year. Thank goodness because I don't think I could handle that again. Now is time to begin living for the holidays this year and then summer next year when they come home for good.
Went to the movies today. Eli lovingly offered to pay for me to see Spy Kids 3-D as long as he didn't have to watch it with me so I went off to see that while he saw Freddy vs. Jason. Honestly don't know which of us ended up sitting thru the worse movie (I snuck in for the last 30 minutes or so of his movie), but at least I got to see a minute or so of Elijah on the big screen. Til they fucking killed him. Electrocution again? What the fuck is up with that? And the silly silver diaper thing he wore instead of a cod-piece? Yuck... It did occur to me today though that aside from the LOTR movies, this was only the second time that I've seen an Elijah movie in the theatre. And the first time, I wasn't obsessed yet (it was the Good Son) so it hardly counts.
Also saw Terminator 3 tonight. OK. Worth seeing once if you're a fan of the previous two, but not one I'll be rushing out to buy when it's released on DVD or anything.
Also saw a shooting star on the way home. Only the second time I've ever seen one & loved that I got to share it with him. Just celebrated 6 months together. totally fucking love it!
Am trying to catch up on all that I've missed being offline for so long. Introduced him to ebay last night. Afraid I've created yet another monster (I seem to responsible for alot of people's bad habits, if one can actual consider ebay & slash bad habits). Taking a friend to get her nose pierced tomorrow for her birthday which according to our co-workers is also my doing. You know-- monkey see, monkey do. Also introduced another friend to slash this week. Still can't get Eli to read any of my stories, but he's amazingly supportive of me writing them. Also handles the Elijah/slash/LOTR obsession thing extremely well.
Well, I'm rambling and it's really late. Have very extensive and iron-clad plans to sleep until noon or later, but I should still probably try to get to bed some time before dawn.
See you all in the funny papers...
...say no more, mon amore...
