Valentine's day has unexpectedly been really nice this year.
It marks my first snow day in what feels like forever. 8am compsci quiz? engineering mechanics exam? two chemical engineering classes? NOPE! Instead, well-earned break from classes and venturing far off campus to go sledding :-D Haha, and we were near one of my (*cringe*) Ward Melville friends at breakfast and discussed various sledding places on Long Island, like that golf course in Stony Brook(lyn hehehe). In between sledding and snowfighting, I actually managed to get some thermodynamics studying done. My first exam is Friday, eeeeeeek!
And right now, I'm in the comp lab. I was just working on my programming assignment when one of my friends sneak-attack/surprised me and I had a short diversion from C++ (and from organic chemistry for him). It's silly to think that an amusing youtube video and a few ridiculous songs added to my playlist can put such a big smile on my face, but it has. Just like my roommate, being her usual brilliantly funny self, also helped make my day. :-)
//Okay, this is an annotation that further proves the uncanny nice-ness surrounding this particular February 14th. As I walked into the lab, I greeted classmate who sometimes I tend to knock heads with during study groups. Suffice it to say that the two of us don't always get along so well, and that we don't always like each other. Anyway, she looked up from the moniter screen and remarked "Wow, you look really nice!" I looked back, slightly dumbfounded, as she continued, ". . . did you have a daaate?" I laughed. Hard.
"No . . . God no," I managed to get out. "The only couples I'm concerned with today are couple moments."
Hhhmmmmmmm. I, personally, was looking forward to tomorrow's "That's what she said" day more than to today. And this weekend is THON, our 46-hour (edit: 46, last yr was 48. anyhoo we raised over 5 million $ this year) dance marathon to raise money for pediatric cancer research. My contribution, you ask? I bought someone at a date auction. Because the it was a fantastically creepy opportunity to make someone go on a date with me. And actually be able to say "yeah, I paid this person [or this person's cause] to go out with me." I told my dad about it on the phone today, and he asked if the guy was scared of me. Prrrooobably ;-)
