18098 - Approaching the outer limit.

Nov 12, 2007 18:28

It was a pretty good day for wirting.  didn't get much of anything done at work, because I had to teach, and also because after teaching, my boss stayed in the training room and we chatted and kibbitzed, which tends to be a good time. but sadly, no sneakret novelling can be performed.   I'm glad he's happy with my ability to convey knowledge, and also that he trusts me taking a day's worth of teaching that I wasn't necessarily prepared for, and praising me for doing well afterwards.  So, things on the work front look up and up again.  I got home from work and blasted some major wordcount into my laptop, big thanks to Meg who got me a USB keyboard.  I've put trying to fix the hateful thing on hold... it'll be a better December project anyway.  the horrible Gatorade, I've decided, has finally eaten its way into my poor laptop keyboard's brain, making it go supah-snap craaayzy.  But replacement boards are 13 bucks on the interweb, and so I'll buy one and replace it at my leisure.
Having the full sized keyboard rocks socks.  My fingers leap from key to key like frantic ninjas on a secret and sinister mission.  It's a little amazing how much the half inch of crunch room really adds to my ability to type quickly and (reasonably) accurately.   I've discovered I'm quite the two year old with fingerpaints when I'm blasting words at my word processor with reckless abandon.  This makes me smile, because I realize that although my inner editor remains (I think it's impossible to truly get rid of him for the entire month) He is at least no longer at the helm, trying to put in semicolons and chiding me for forgetting entire syllables of words.  My Inner Editor is tied up like Marvin in Reservoir Dogs -  earless, covered in tears, blood and gasoline, and terrified for his life.  Lucky for him, the Mr. Orange that is called December 1st will rise up, belly wound and all, ending the nightmare. Or will he?  Has this reference gone too far?  I don't know.

Stats:
18098 words
1906 words under goal (Effin Sweeeeet!  I'll the have the gap closed by Wed. hopefully.)
36.20% complete
31092 words remain
1772 WPD based on days remaining. (Equally Effin Sweeeeet!)

So I'm gonna watch a little reward-style twin peaks... and sign off.  Good night out there, dreamers...
