I'm well aware of what he was trying to say, but the saying is "Alert the press", as in the media. The presses as in the printing presses do not need to be alerted because they aren't sentient beings.

if you say press, thats right...

but if you say presses you obviously mean printing presses. unless you mean like... dry cleaning presses... or something silly like that.

Yes, he said presses and I know very much so that he meant printing presses. I was kindly informing him that that's a stupid thing to say because it's wrong. I would also appreciate if you stop arguing about it, please.
