a little late to the game

it's only now, after a friend was selling off her wii stuff, that i have in my possession animal crossing: city folk. so, yah, i'm a little behind the trend. but, hey, i didn't have to spend a single cent on it. that said, though, i gotta say.. i'm kind of deflated by exactly how similar it is to the ds version (animal crossing: wild world) because it's almost entirely a port of the same game to the wii. so in a large way, it's a lot more of the same. or, i suppose, the same amount of the same, if that makes any sense. it's a good thing i didn't actually pay full price for this (or any price, for that matter) since i did already pay full price for wild world when that came out.

in spite of the similarities, though, there are some new features i'm coming across and, what with this time around being on wiiconnect24, there's the opportunity for some less hasslesome downloadable content (on the ds, there wasn't any sort of passive connectivity the way the console does it and, what's more, to run wifi drained the ds batteries crazy fast). plus, it's on a big ole tv versus it being on a teeny ds screen. and, as some of you may already know, one nice thing, continuity-wise, was that i was able to "move" my character from the town i had in the ds (as well as his catalog) over to my new town on the wii.. so at least i'm not starting from scratch completely. (that said, i wonder if i wouldn't enjoy things more if i did start from scratch all over again.) sadly, none of my bells or designs carried over. oh well. though i had expected there to be more to it, the actual city part of the game is a nice, cute addition. as i'm still exploring and setting up (i only ever ran it for real last night), i'm sure there are more things to discover and more things to get excited over.

all that being said, anyone have any insight on this game that they'd like to share? tips? little bits of wisdom they could impart? (my copy actually didn't come with the instruction manual so i'm not 100% sure if the controls or any other details are perfectly identical to its ds predecessor.) know of any links to helpful sites or other resources? hell, want to come visit? =]
