The Australian reports that studies show playing Brain Training/Age may reduce the risk of Alzheimer's in seniors.
Professor Michael Woodward, director of aged and residential care for Melbourne private hospital group Austin Health, says that the game links to areas of the brain that can be affected by cognitive decline.
"There is a sound scientific basis for this," says Woodward. "There is increasing evidence that keeping your mind active does seem to be a prevention for progressing towards Alzheimer's."
The game is set to release on June 15th in the land down under, and Nintendo will donate $1 from every copy sold to Alzheimer's Australia.
It's nice to see video games shown in a positive light by the press for once, after so many stories about how they cause your children to turn into psycho killers that don't eat their vegetables.
