Hopefully someone here can help me... My girlfriend managed to brake her DS. Was walking up the stairs, tripped, and her WHOLE weight went onto the DS, which unfortunately, was open at the time. The case hinge is broken (the plastic parts) and the top screen is a total loss. The system boots up, but shuts down immediately afterwards.
I took the system apart out of curiosity just to see how Nintendo fits everything inside. The screens are completely removable! There are little thingys (yeah, the technical term) that hold the connector wire to the screens onto the main board of the system.
With that in mind, I was wondering if I got a hold of another broken DS, I could use the parts from both systems to make one working system. If I was to find a DS with an operational bottom screen, is it possible to use it for a top screen? Also, if I manage to find a broken DS Lite, would the screens from that system work on a DS Phat?
Also, this is a DS Phat (the bigger one). Does anyone have a broken DS laying around they would like to sell for cheap? Or can point me in the right direction? I don't have a lot of loot laying around, but would like to fix this system.
P.S. - Back in the day I modded my own GBA system and installed the Afterburner light inside. Worked great! The little light made playing the original GBA fun. Alas, it wasn't perfect so I bought a modded GBA from a person who made his own company around the Afterburner light who lived in PA. That one was perfect and I loved that system for years! Unfortunately, the Li-Ion battery of the GBA SP drew me in and I sold the modded GBA... Ashame, I miss that system...
