Final Surgery Update
Welp, T-minus...well, I can't tell you because I have no idea. I have to be at the hospital at 7:15am ready to go. I'm the third scheduled procedure for that OR so we'll see when they actually take me up/knock me out, etc. I imagine I'll have to be run through a whole battery of blood drawings, IVs, all that crap. Honestly, I have no idea what is going on tomorrow other than at some point I'll be knocked out and a doc is going to look around my insides with a camera and hopefully find out what is causing the extreme amount of pain I've been in for the past 2 months.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and warm thoughts. It truly does help even from the people I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting in real life. As for offers of visits tomorrow I'd say stay tuned for further details. There is a possibility I could be at home/Virginia Beach as early as tomorrow night or it could happen sometime during the day on Saturday. It depends on what is found and what action is taken/how well the Dr. thinks I'm healing/doing. Tomorrow sounds like a lot of hurry up and wait to be honest and having lots of bored people sitting around just isn't my idea of fun even though I know everyone wants to be supportive. My parents are in town and will be with me all day so I should be ok.
It's also possible that whatever is found could require an extended stay in which case various people will be informed and visits will certainly be welcomed.
Just as further evidence, not that I really think it will be needed, I did sign a living will (Advanced Medical Directive in Commonwealth speak) and it was witnessed this evening. So if there's the slightest doubt, yes, such a document exists and will be in my parent's possession in case my doc chugs a bottle of vodka before surgery. Somehow I doubt it though, he's a bit too high and tight for that sort of thing. ;)
