River Water:

We tried river water once.
But it was not a success.
We were coming down the river
and decided to stop near Winston
in order to have some tea
we had no water in our kettles
and so we decided to take it
from the water.
We shall, we shall, we shall
try the water, Paris said,
It will be all right if we boil it
the boiling will kill all the germs
in the water.
We filled our kettle with the water,
boiled it for an hour.
When we began to drink the tea
George exclaimed, "what's that?"
We looked and saw a dead dog floating down the river
on its back.
George said, "I don't want any tea"
and he emptied his cup into the water.
Paris said, "I do not want any either"
I had drank half mine.
"Do you think I shall have the typhoid,"
I asked George.
"Oh no, I think you won't but anyhow,
you will have known by the end of two weeks".

A selection from a Ukrainian text booked turned into a 'poem' by a one Nick Brown, who read it with bongo drums during COS. I am feeling very Ukraine nostalgic and am worried about all the political upheaval going on there now. Viktor Yanukovitch needs to chill out.

In other news LJ - I'm going to night school to become a paralegal. Its been fun and exhausting. I spent Halloween in New Orleans and had a blast despite the shootings the last night. I may write more on that later but I've got a first date tonight! Peace.
