V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N.
It has been so long ago that I'd had a vacation, that I'd almost forgotten how to spell it. But this week, I'm free. All week long. And boy, have I been spending my time well!
As always, the weekend was filled with partying, a get-together at Diederik's followed by some time in town on Friday, Koen and Penny's housewarming on Saturday and random drunkenness with Saar on Sunday.
Moday I allowed myself a little bit of R&R before heading of to my mother. Seeing as she and I had to get up rather ealy the next day for our trip to Antwerp. She thought we were only going for one day. Little did she know that I had secretly booked us a hotel in the center of Antwerp. I wish I'd have filmed her reaction when I told her, standing in front of our - rather luxurious - hotel, that we were going to be spending the night there!
We had a marvellous time in Antwerp. The weather was lovely: nice and warm with a clear blue sky. Visited Chinatown, did loads of shopping, had a couple (lot?) of nice big glasses of Belgian beer. Had a lovely dinner at an Argentinian restaurant near the hotel. After that we had a drank a bottle of wine together in our hotel roon and went to bed before midnight, seeing as we were both rather tired from getting up early and walking aound all day long.
Day two was all about the Antwerp Zoo, in my opinion one of the most beautiful zoos in all of Europe. We spent a good couple of hours there, just walking around and taking in the sights. Made a buttload of pictures, and I especially went all out in the aquarium, which is by far my favourite place in a zoo.
I even made a little movie!
After we were finally able to leave the zoo, we did some final shopping, had a couple more drinks (and some delicious garlic bread!) and then it was finally time for us to go back to Amsterdam.
Today I'm chilling, about to go over to Wim's place to (hopefully) enjoy the sun, then tonight is the opening of Pride weekend. Tomorrow drag queen olympics at Westermarkt, then on Saturday the big parade.
I have to be back at work on Monday, probably more tired and beat than before my vacation began, but at least I'll have had a great week!
