Day three of being an invalid is almost over. I found out that I can't even do the tiniest thing without help. I can go to the bathroom alone and I'm very good at channel surfing. I managed to take out my contacts without any help as well.
It's silly though, I can't even go to the kitchen, get a drink and go back to eat it in the living room. I just don't have that many hands. So I'm stuck to either drinking it in the kitchen and then going back or having everybody else do it for me. Luckily my family have been really nice and helpful.
Last night Carl borrowed Tom's wheelchair (sorry, not pink and no flags either - plain brown: boring!) for me and we went over to Tom and Nora's place for Chinese fondue. I finally got to help out a little bit by slicing and dicing all the meat, which is a thing you can do sitting down. We sure made a very mobile bunch of people there: me sitting around with my leg on a chair, my mum with her arm in a sling (she has
subacromial bursitis in her shoulder) and Tom, who has multiple sclerosis.
Had a good night though. It was fun to be out of the house for a change. And no, the balcony doesn't count...
Tomorrow Lon and Mick and maybe Libby are coming over to celebrate Benji's 18th. Should be a nice distraction from sitting around doing nothing at all.
On Friday I'll be going to Arnhem, where apparently they haven't invented the internet yet so it's going to be quiet on this side. Coming back on Monday and the next day they'll hopefully be taking the cast off!
My mum told me yesterday that I'll probably be needing a couple of weeks of physiotherapy. Which sucks, but if it's necessary there's no point in not doing it. I pay health insurance for a reason, you know!
