Summary: Kazuya never had parents. He was abandoned and left behind. He didn't know the meaning of happiness...until he turned nine and was adopted by the Yamashita family. Things started off well for Kazuya and his new family, he had a loving mother, a hardworking father, and an overprotective older brother. He was finally learning to smile and slowly...his life started getting better. But one day their mom died, leaving him and Pi with their dad who blamed him for the death of his wife. He starts abusing Kazuya without Pi knowing. Suddenly, Kazuya's happy life starts falling apart. Can he ever find happiness?

“Kazu! I’ll be leaving now!”
“Hai~ Take care!” Pi went out of their apartment and went to his job right away. When he reached the restaurant, he saw Jin by the door with his bags and ready to leave. Pi walked to him and said, “Where are you going?”
“Home. I’m done with my shift.”
“Eh?” Pi looked at his watch and looked back at him and said, “I thought we have the same shift?”
“Yeah. We have. Except for today. My dad wants me to go home early tonight for some stupid reason.” Pi looked at the older man and smiled.
“What’s up with that smile? Hey… if you’re asking me to take your shift so that you’ll go to your other job I won’t do it.”
“No. It’s not that. I would ask you to baby-sit my brother.” He smiled again.
“Why? Is he sick?” Jin’s voice was worried. He thought that if the younger boy were sick, why would his brother leave him for his job? Is he that desperate for money? He watched Pi’s face frown a bit. He also heard a mumble that is similar to a “yes”
“Fine. Give me your address. I’ll take care of him for you. Next time if you need money just ask me I’ll give it to you.” Jin said as Pi wrote their address at a piece of napkin and gave him a warm smile. Jin didn’t even want to go home that early so he agreed.
“Take care of him, ne?” Pi bowed to him and smiled for the last time and went to the locker room to change. Jin looked at the napkin and went out of the restaurant.
While he was walking to the apartment different things entered his mind.
“What would the kid want?”
“Would he slam the door when he sees me?”
“Did he eat already?”
His mind stopped wondering when he stopped at the convenience store.
“Maybe I should get something for him…” Jin entered the store and grabbed a simple drink and food for Kazuya. After awhile, he paid for the stuff and left the store and started walking again. When he reached the apartment he looked at the paper again to see if he got the right number. He fixed his shirt and hair then knocked at the door in front of him. He waited for a couple of minutes for the boy to go get the door but it seems that he didn’t hear it or maybe he’s already sleeping. Jin knocked again for the second time and the door opened.
“nii-chan….” Kazuya looked up and was shocked to see a different person. “Etto~ wh-what do you wa-want s-sir? My ni-nii-cha-chan’s not he-here…”
“Ah, I’m Jin. Your brother said I should baby-sit you `coz you’re sick. And don’t worry…we work together. May I go inside?” he asked nicely. Kazuya could just stare at him and think if he’s really his brother’s co-worker.
“Don’t worry. I’m not a stranger. Here look.” He pulled out his nametag from his bag and showed it to the younger boy. Kazuya took the nametag and looked at it.
“uhuh…they really work together.” He said in his mind and gave Jin’s nametag back and opened the door a little bit bigger and gestured him to enter.
Jin entered their apartment and looked around.
“So~ where’s your room? You better lie down, I’ll make soup for you.”
“Eh? But… I’m not sick…” Kazuya rubbed his eye while looking at Jin.
“But your brother said that---- You’re---- Damn. I’m going to kill him tomorrow.” He faced Kazuya and saw the latter pout. “Hey… I was kidding. Here. “ Jin gave the plastic bag to Kazuya and he looked at what was inside it.
“Food? But I ate already…well. Anyways. I could just eat it tomorrow.” He brought the plastic bag to the kitchen and placed the food inside the counter while Jin followed him and sat on the chair.
“Boy… he sure knows what to do around here...” Jin said in his mind.
“Hey, uhm Kazuya. It’s almost 10 o’clock why wont you go to bed already?” He continued but the boy didn’t reply back.
“Kazuya…” He called again, still no response. Jin stood up and tapped the younger boy’s shoulder and he looked up to him. “Na-nani?” he said softly.
“Didn’t you hear me?” Jin said and Kazuya stared at him.
“Kazuya, Didn’t you hear me?” He said again.
“…I can’t hear you. What are you saying?” he spoke.
“I said didn’t you hear me? Well its obvious already. You really didn’t hear it. Did you clean your ears earlier?”
“HAH?”
“You know what, nevermind forget my questions. You might be sleepy already that’s why you can’t hear me anymore. C’mon” He dragged the younger boy upstairs and he stopped when he saw two doors.
“Which one is yours?” he asked again and he saw Kazuya look at him and entered the left room and Jin followed. Kazuya went to his bed and lied down and closed his eyes while Jin sat beside him and patted the latter’s head until he heard soft breaths from him. After a few minutes of staring at the younger one he went down and heard something fall from the kitchen. Jin jumped and looked at kitchen from the stairs. He saw a shadow and it was looking for something at the kitchen. Jin walked silently to the kitchen and rested his back at the wall.
“Damn it. I will really kill Pi tomorrow!” He sighed and when he faced the kitchen he saw the man staring at him.
“BOO~!!!”
“UWAAA~!!!!” Jin fell to the ground and he heard laughter.
“What the….PI!” Jin shouted and it made Pi laugh louder.
“You should have seen your face!! It was hilarious!” Jin rolled his eyes, stood up and fixed his shirt.
“Its not funny…”
“It is!”
“ITS NOT.” And this time Jin’s voice was serious and deep that made Pi shut up and stare. “Can’t believe that you lied to me about your brother. He’s not even sick!”
“I know he’s not… but did you see any strange thing in him? I mean…he----”
“No. I’m going.” Jin left the apartment without letting Pi continue his sentence and with that, he just went upstairs to his brother’s room and checks if he’s a sleep or awake. He entered the room and saw that the younger boy was sleeping soundly and snuggling his pillow. Pi sat next to him and observed the younger one while he sleeps. Pi patted his hair and hummed a song until he himself drifted to sleep.
A/N: Okay, I promised long chapters but I dont know why but I can't write that long anymore. Lack of inspiration and to write maybe. so if you guys want to suggest anything, please do! some of you guessed what's going to happen to Kazu already so very good! :D I just need to write a lot more and yeah, so that we'll all be happy. So please suggest I'll be waiting :D
