I was having some confusion following the Madge pattern from
www.Knitty.com . The problem was all "me." It's hard to work a pattern with variation in each row when you knit and put it down after a row or 2. I "frogged" the whole thing and set the yarn aside.
I wanted to use the pretty Patton's merino in leaf green that Christian picked out when we were last at Michael's to make this pattern anyway. So here we go. It ended up so small that it may fit a toddler. Christian was kind enough to model it for me. The contrast with his dark hair really shows the pattern off.
So now, I wonder. Did I still knit too tight? Did the yarn make it smaller? The pattern calls for a heavy worsted home spun on size 9, the Patton's is a medium #4 weight... hmmm.... I think I'll try a larger needle size. I want to work the bugs out before I start into the goblin flower again. It took me about, oh, 5.5 hours to knit this yesterday so I'll hopefully have this one worked out and worked up before the weekend is over.
