Okay, Noora did this one, and it looked fun, so I participated...upon closer reading of the rules, participation is concluded in one's own LJ, so here goes:
1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.
Noora took pity on me and gave me the letter D, so here's my five:
1) Dulcea, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the Movie. And unfortunately, only the movie, because the next season of the show wrote the movie out of continuity and replaced Dulcea with Dudley Do Right in a ninja clown suit (I wish that were anywhere near as kidding as it sounds.) ANYWAY, Dulcea is the Master Warrior of the planet Phaedos, guardian of the ruins of the Ninjetti Temple. Yeah, Ninjetti like my name. Which was ALSO written out of canon, so I adopted it for my own use. But Dulcea used it first, and she had awesome shamanistic animal spirit powers, as well as being a kick-ass martial artist with great stealth abilities and a unique weapon. What's not to love?
2) Darkness, the Darkness (comic book). Jackie Estacado, latest in a long line of bearers of the Darkness. Basically, if he's not in direct sunlight or a VERY well-lit room, he can generate tangible shadows...and fashion them into pretty much anything he can imagine. His imagination leans towards the demonic and the snarky, so he tends to have awesome little mutated minions running around...and sometimes not so little, often with big teeth, etc. I mostly love the Darkness for introducing me to the concept of the ninja nun, but he was cool in and of himself, too. (When ambushing the ninja nun as she emerged from a blessed pool, nearly naked? The minions are commenting on what they'll do to her. Being a near-nude hottie, you can imagine the nature of said comments. One minion claims he's going to eat her eyes. Another says "Aw, No! Last time you ate eyes, you had the squishy poop for days!" A smaller minion starts chanting "Squishy poop! Squishy poop!" The ninja nun reaches to activate her new divine power, and one of the bigger minion says: "Hey, Boss, be careful! She's gonna pull something out of her ass!" Small Minion: "Holy poop! Holy poop!") Yeah, Darkness was good times. *g*
3) Drake, Tim Batman franchise, the third Robin. Okay, yeah, I cheated and used a surname, sue me. Tim Drake is awesome. He's not your father's Robin, a ray of sunshine in scale-mail shorts and pixie boots. No, the modern Robin costume (used in the Schumacher Batman films AND the Teen Titans cartoon, even though Dick Grayson and Jason Todd ONLY wore the circus suit) has armor and non-bared legs, not to mention either ninja tabi or steel-toed boots. And Tim is slightly broody, though still a bright spot compared to Batman. Actually, life the DC writers have handed Tim a LOT of lemons, but he's still awesome. A detective as opposed to an acrobat (though he DOES still do gymnastics, as does Batman), Tim is brilliant, snarky, and devoted. He's half of my DC OTP, the other half being Kon-El/Superboy. THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER.
4) Drusilla, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Angel.) I love Drusilla. Almost as much as I love Callisto; apparently I have a thing for insane villain-women. But she's SO COOL! I love the madcap whimsy of her dialog, and the fact that it often correlated to things more than Spike or anyone gave her credit for. Her loopiness meant things would come out of TOTALLY left field from her, and since vamps tend toward the wacky!evil plans, anyway... Yeah, Dru was fun. I wish they'd brought her back along with Spike. Or instead of Spike, really, but she probably wouldn't have worked quite as well. (On the other hand, imagine if in her insanity she decided she wanted her soul back and went on the Africa quest...)
5) Dean Winchester, Supernatural. Dude. Dean is my favorite. He's just awesomely bad-ass, and an uber-woobie on top of it. I'm not even sure =WHY= I like him so much (other than part where Jensen Ackles is absolutely ridiculously hot. And charming. And talented. And -I'll stop now.) Dean's actually a bit of an ass at times, but he is absolutely and entirely devoted to his family and saving people, in that order. The character dynamics on Supernatural are just absolutely phenomenal, and Jensen Ackles has done an extraordinary job of demonstrating this through Dean. Season 4 starts next Thursday; I can't wait to see what they do next. (Especially given how things wound up for Dean at the end of Season 3, whoa.)
Okay, that was fun. Ask for a letter if you'd like one!
