* Breaking the opponent's posture is critical since it's what enables one to establish control of their center of gravity. For example, during a knee slice pass, if one has no grips on the opponent's upper body, they can maintain posture and keep their center of gravity lower on one's body and centered over their own hips. They can position their weight wherever necessary to control one's own hips. But if one has a good over-arm tricep/armpit grip (and cross wrist grip), one can pull their upper body down, thereby changing where their center of gravity is. This action coupled with an inserted butterfly hook can keep the opponent's center of gravity properly distanced and positioned to sweep (with the added benefit that one also has removed their hand post).
