Had an in-depth conversation with our new software engineer about OpenStack. It's fascinating that within 5 years, a dramatic shift has happened in infrastructure management. An open sourced software suite is compelling enough of a product that large corporations with thousands of servers are migrating to using this tool instead of propriety solutions. While it doesn't make sense on any smaller scale given the operational overhead of setting the suite up, it's amazing that a relatively new product is so good on such a large scale.
