Did you know the phone's don't like to go swimming in vitamin water?
Yes, my phone was water damaged to the point of being unsalvagable. As in, nothing of it was able to be saved. Including anything I had stored on it, like phone numbers. So essentially, I went through a huge phone number purge. (and text messages I'd saved, pictures I'd taken, etc.)
I guess this is sort of a good thing. I'm one of those people that just doesn't ever erase phone numbers. Ever. I mean, why would you, if your phone can store like, 500 contacts? Also, what if you really need to use that phone number one day? Mainly it's me being lazy - I don't want to think about whether or not I'm likely to call you. And, if you're in the phone book, caller ID lets me decide whether or not I should answer my phone. There were many reasons in having the 200+ numbers I had. I mean, I think I had UCLA campus security's phone number in it still, for when the JDL was crashing some program we'd set up.
The bad thing? Having to get ANOTHER DAMN PHONE. I'd just gotten this one. And by just, I mean... I dunno, July or August. The phone before that I have for over a year and it exploded when my car was totaled. Okay, maybe not exploded, but... let's just say looking at it was just plain sad. The screen was blank, the hinge broken and wouldn't stay open or closed, etc. I give it props for actually being able to send/receive calls in that state, but that's about it. So this replacement phone was supposed to last. Well... it didn't even last a year. How sad is that?
Sure, it was my fault for putting it in a bag with a bottle of vitamin water. And for not making sure that the bottle of vitamin water was not going to explode or leak over EVERYTHING that was in the purse. But still - I wish I just had to live with a phone that did weird things from the damage rather than a completely unsalvagable phone.
So yeah, if you're mad that I haven't called, it's because I don't have anyone's phone number anymore. Unless you're one of the 15 numbers I actually had written down somewhere or remembered on my own (having a cell phone has greatly diminished my ability to be able to retain phone numbers in my own memory, actually). Heh.
