The past few weeks Raquel has been stressing herself out on some old blanket her Mom made her sister back in the day. She had the pattern book her Mom gave her so she knew it was the puff stitch done granny style.
However, she said she did the same thing "on the other side in a different color" which made it reversable.
She crocheted the blanket all in white and THEN again OVER it in black on the back. Crazy!
I HAD (was stolen *twitch*) a pattern book with 3-4 blanket patterns for reversable blankets but I was thinking "WTF! That's making 2 blankets at once!" and just never got around to trying it. Plus I'd need to go buy this crazy hook that is as long as a knitting needle but it has a hook on each side. I know it would just sit with my knitting needles which I only use as hairsticks.
I suppose it would be cool to learn, at least know how to do, but I live in Arizona. We really have no need for such heavy blankets...and I'm too lazy to make two blankets but only end up with one in the end. Yeahhh no thanks. I am behind enough on the 1000 preemie goal after all...bigger fish to try and such.
Well Raquel's Sister's blanket was tossed away and wanted to make another one just like it to give her sister.
We tried. We got the puff stitch down at least.
That's how she got the idea to make a blanket that looks like a flower. So starts the Internet search for a decent pattern.
We couldn't really find anything....we're a bit picky as all yarnies.
There was one photo I saw that was perfect. Looked like a flower. I saw it and it felt like I KNEW how to make that blanket. All I would have to do was just LOOK at it for a bit and ponder. At times I wanted to burst out and say "I know how to do it!" but could not as the idea was just out of reach the way a word hangs to the tip of your tounge.
Raquel finally found that lady's website where she turned the spiderman blanket into a flower. Okay it was cute but still I JUST knew we could do something that looks more like a flower.
I GOT it though!! I'm going to finish this blanket up and Raquel will be PISSED when she sees it because she's already started (again, she finished that smaller 'model') the blanket for her sister.
Couple of hours ago it was just BOOM right there in my head PERFECT!! Aside from "Oh geeze I forgot I was going to toss in some Front Post DCs now I gotta pull out these 4 rows!!"
(I can't believe I even thought a pattern up using FPDC!!)
and I had to pull out about 6 rows when I decided I should make the peddles larger but that's okay too.
I'll have the photo tomorrow....oh YES I will!
If I don't run out of blue yarn....which would REALLY be upsetting!
