Brent always had this theory that the stars came in clusters of three (I think it was his engineering mind working overtime) He always tried to point it out. He swore that he could always see it. He said that some of the stars were so dim that you couldn’t always see the entire cluster. Who knows if he was right but it’s an interesting thought. Now I look at the stars more often. Since his passing I started writing poems. I've never done it before, so they're not that great. I had decided to write a poem on Brent's three star theory. So here it is.
The Three Stars
Two lovers stare
Into the night sky
They hold one another
The girl happily sighs
"My theory is that
The stars come in threes.
Some are just too dim
For many people to see"
The young engineer
Had pointed this out
The young girl replies,
"What are you talking about"
The man just smiles
As he holds her tight
Then suddenly a star
Zooms out of sight
"That was a soul
Shooting on by.
They're going to heaven.
No need to cry."
The girl thinks of his words
She seems very unsure
But she just kisses him
And says nothing more
Many months later
The man has passed on
She's cried many tears
She's sad that he's gone
The girl stands outside
She looks to the sky
Her heart stands still
As a star passes by
A thought occurs to her
Was that possibly his soul
For just a moment in time
Her heart felt whole
She then turns to her right
As she sees a bright star
It reminds her of God
So distant and far
Now as she looks closer
She sees something new
It's a dim second star
Yet it's shining so true
Could this be her love
With God in the sky
But where is the third star
Out loud she asks why
She finally realizes
Why it's not there
God and her love
Are waiting with care
It may seem far away
But really it's not
For now he'll be with her
In heart and in thought
