Deidara ||
clayfireworks || tag: creepy nihilist
Akira has only spoken to Deidara once on the network. However, Kakashi warned him that he was a bad person and part of Akatsuki, so Akira has resolved to keep an eye on him and otherwise just approach with caution.
He really just wanted someone to talk art with, though. :(
Haruno Sakura ||
ground_breaker || tag: my big sister punches things
Sakura's warm and approachable personality was instantly drawn to Akira's contrary, tough-acting yet vulnerable one. While Akira is often annoyed at Sakura's insistence that she is there for him and wants to help him get through things, in truth, he's grateful to have a big sister-type. Very slowly, he's beginning to open up to her.
He also deeply respects admires her skills as a shinobi, especially considering she's one of Kakashi's students. He always looks forward to a chance to spar with her and improve himself a bit.
Hatake Kakashi ||
ura_no_ura || tag: just an old pervert
Akira's attitude about this 'old pervert' has softened somewhat from when he first met him. While he still likes making fun of Kakashi and calling him old man and pervert, it's definitely more openly affectionate than when he first met him - and did it mostly out of shock toward Kakashi's laid-back behavior. Since getting to know him, experiencing his dreams and having many moments of personal growth with him, Akira's become very attached to Kakashi and while he's still uptight in comparison, he also likes to join in the fun and joke around with Kakashi on the Hitomi. Though Akira himself may not know it, he's come to think of Kakashi like family, perhaps an older brother.
When Akira attempted to leave Konoha early on his stay there, Kakashi showed cared for him when he prevented the young ninja from leaving. Akira was suffering a bout of instability triggered by events prior to his arrival, namely the loss of his Child and Takumi in battle. He was feeling directionless and uncomfortable in Konoha, since it was against his father's strict commands for him trust or get close to anyone. Also, he was concerned about what might happen to him if people found out his secret, and felt he did not belong in Konoha.
When Kakashi refused to let Akira past the gates (it was unsafe to someone at his skill level due to the threat of Akatsuki), Akira decided to kill himself rather than be forced to stay. Kakashi quickly circumvented Akira's attempted seppuku and disarmed him.
Their ensuing conversation caused Akira to break down. As rain fell, Kakashi assured Akira that he did belong in Konoha, even if he'd lost in battle. Akira opened up for the first time about what happened to Takumi, and concluded that he needed to 'earn the right' to live in Konoha.
Not long after that dramatic encounter, Kakashi and Akira had another spirited exchange. Due to his dog-like sense of smell, Kakashi stumbled upon the truth that Akira was female and menstruating. When he arrived with a box of tampons, Akira immediately attempted to follow his father's orders to kill anyone who found out the truth of his gender.
Convinced any man who found out the truth would be angered to the point of raping him, Akira decided to take Kakashi down or die trying. Knowing he wasn't a match for the older ninja, he fought anyway. Though Kakashi didn't want to fight him (or understand what the big deal was), in the end he easily immobilized Akira with Doton Shinjuu Zanshu no Jutsu, which left him buried in the ground up to his neck.
Cornered, Akira explained his reasons for attacking. After Kakashi's assurance that his gender didn't matter (and that he'd get his ass killed if he kept attacking anyone who might find out), they had a long talk about what it meant to fight in their respective worlds. Akira remarked that it might be nice to fight with comrades like the Konoha shinobi. With Kakashi's recommendation, Akira began to study under Umino Iruka in earnest.
During the erotic dream event, Kakashi was staying the night at Gai's, next door to Akira. He inadvertently merged dreams with Akira, who was rather tormented and frustrated by way everyone's dreams were effecting his lust and hormones. Combined with confusion and self-loathing about his body, Akira was a mess.
In his own way (and in that "makes no sense in real life but it's a dream" sort of way), Kakashi taught Akira to at least see some beauty in his body, as well as awaken to some of its more physical uses. Under Kakashi's dream-tutelage, Akira learned the miracle of masturbation and had his first orgasm.
They've never spoken about it, considering the awkwardness of bringing it up, but neither seems to have been negatively effected. Though that sort of closeness would have been seriously disturbing to both of them - it was a dream, of a sort, and Akira's happy to have gotten something out of it.
Shortly after the erotic dream event, Akira had a dream in which Kakashi was his beloved older brother, and Iruka his older sister. In that dream, he was afraid of Kakashi discovering the truth behind a painting he made. The dream ended with Kakashi concluding that they needed to kill their father for hurting Akira, Iruka agreeing, and both being flattened by an out-of-control truck.
While it indirectly exposed some truths Akira is still unwilling to acknowledge, let alone discuss, one think he took away from it was how much he truly looked up to and trusted Kakashi. It's a feeling that's stayed with him.
Hoshigaki Kisame ||
seeingeyeshark || tag: what big teeth you have
Akira has spoken to Kisame twice. The first time wasn't so bad, though Kisame got under Akira's skin pretty easily. Akira noticed that he had shark-teeth in addition to his overall oddness and immediately labeled him as someone to keep an eye on - he suspected he might be some new kind of Orphan.
The second time he conversed with Kisame was a great deal less pleasant. Akira was left reeling by experiencing the disturbing content of one of Itachi's dreams, and it led him to say something completely tactless. Kisame understandably got angry with Akir and threatened to cut his tongue out. Akira decided that Kisame was, indeed, an Orphan from the cursed land of Fuka. That didn't go over very well, and neither know that it is all a misunderstanding.
(Kisame hating Akira's guts is probably not a misunderstanding).
Hyuuga Neji ||
wingedascension || tag: the sound of wings
Akira's spoken to Neji a handful of times and attended his birthday, where he gave him an ink drawing of a bird. Neji suits Akira's mental image of a shinobi a lot better than many of the Konoha shinobi, and so Akira respects him rather openly. Though they've not spoken about it openly, he feels he and Neji can relate, having both been forced painful into things for the sake of their family (as he views it).
Neji told Akira to give Naruto a chance, as Naruto saved him. It's a testament to his respect for Neji that he's decided to at least try.
Konan ||
papercutrose || tag: an opinion: please grow your own
Akira's never interacted with Konan directly. However, he posted to her when she asked Konoha residents for reasons not to attack them, citing Konoha's previous indifference to her plight. Pain stepped in and replied to Akira with a bunch of his typical crap in her stead.
Akira doesn't have a high opinion of people who can't fight their own battles, or don't know their own reasons to fight. He sees Konan as a spineless hypocrite.
Maito Gai ||
youthfulpassion || tag: i've heard this speech before
Gai's approach to his training and life are the polar opposite of how Akira was taught to approach being a ninja. Thus, he's more than a little bit at odds with Gai's loudness and passion, and tends to find him exhausting and annoying. Really, he's more confused than anything by Gai, whose open expressiveness and embrace of human bonds should have spelled his destruction, yet seem to be his strength. He's aware that Gai, like the other shinobi in Konoha, possess skills far beyond his own, but can't muster the polite deference he ought to have for the man and instead reacts with irritation. This may also partially be because Gai reminds him so much of Sugiura Midori, the magical girl and sentai-obsessed self-claimed leader of the HiME, who also had a way of getting on people's last nerve. However, Akira suspects that if Gai is like Midori-sensei, he's hiding a more formidable and serious side.
As he's grown more adjusted to his life in Konoha, Akira's come to understand Gai a little more. To Gai's credit, he also knows when to calm down and be more quietly encouraging to Akira, which works wonders.
Mitarashi Anko ||
crazysnakelady || tag: stop trying to feed me
Anko reached out to Akira after he had an awkwardly sexual dream about Kakashi broadcasted. She really stepped in as an older-sister type, sharing a personal story and dango with the sullen boy. Since then, she and Akira are growing to be friends, even sparring with her occasionally. However, Akira's quickly learned that he can sidetrack her from the concern (which he often feels is meddling) by teasing her or saying inflammatory things. Often enough, their conversations end with Akira inciting her temper purposefully, just so she'll get off his case.
He's glad she cares. He just doesn't know what to do with that emotion, since they haven't bonded tightly yet and he doesn't understand why she should.
Pain/Nagato ||
callmelegion || tag: fucking crazy asshole
Akira thinks Pain is a fucking crazy asshole. Also, he talks too much. Also, he's a hypocrite. You suck, Pain.
Tobi ||
parousian || tag: spiral-faced freak
Akira's easily baited and provoked by Tobi. He genuinely can't stand him and so far always falls for his trolling. Akira has yet to meet Madara.
Uchiha Itachi ||
seeing_only_red || tag: brother complex
Itachi's fixation on his little brother (and his brother's opinion of him being so closely tied to his own self-worth) reminds Akira of Takumi's older sister Mai in a strange way. Having helped Takumi struggle to find his own independence from Mai, he's cognizant of how painful that kind of attachment can be. Since he's only ever viewed it as an outsider, the complexities of sibling love are lost on him. Like he did with Takumi, Akira attempted to lend his particular brand of blunt advice to Itachi. Itachi attempted to combat Akira's unsolicited advice by trying to destroy Akira's faith in relationships, but was not successful.
Akira's frustration with Mai and Takumi's situation and the fact that their tension as siblings was never resolved before Takumi's death makes Akira care a little bit more about these strangers than he has any right to. He's taken to dealing with this by teasing Itachi about his brother complex - a direct echo of how he used to tease Takumi about his sister complex. However, Akira was recently scared off from commenting any further to Itachi.
Itachi had a rather graphically violent dream about Sasuke punishing him in a brutally sexual manner, and Akira, rather disturbed for having experienced it, blurted out something about Itachi's brother complex. Kisame and Kakashi both jumped down his throat about it, rightfully so, and Akira was rather directly reminded he wasn't supposed to be starting crap with Akatsuki people. Since then, he's completely avoided anything to do with Akatsuki, especially Itachi.
But he kind of hopes, somehow, that Itachi and Sasuke will work it out. It's obvious Itachi cares, after all... why should loving someone be painful?
Umino Iruka ||
smiling_umino || tag: comparatively normal
Though Akira originally thought Iruka was a little bit immature and spazzy, he's come to be incredibly close to the older man. Iruka has had a lot of success drawing Akira out of his shell. Iruka has his complete trust as a man, friend and teacher, and Akira often confides in him. Aside from Kakashi, Iruka is the only person Akira has 'come out' to. This is particularly of note because he did it entirely of his own accord. He feared that Iruka would think less of him, and so confessed to his secret (biological gender). Though at first slightly flummoxed, Iruka did not at all treat Akira differently after learning the truth.
Akira really loves to joke around and tease Iruka. It's easy to get him worked up and Iruka enjoys making him smile. Iruka is one person around whom Akira genuinely acts like a kid, something in his demeanor just demands it.
He recently had a dream in which Iruka was his older sister and Kakashi his older brother. This helped cement Akira's feelings for Iruka as chosen family. Iruka makes him at ease in a way absolutely no one else in Konoha does.
Uzumaki Naruto ||
windsawakening || tag: dumbass idiot etc.
Naruto 'mistook' Akira for a girl over the Hitomi and offended him instantly. Their relationship currently consists of them yelling at each other. A lot.
In spite of this, because of Neji and Sakura's respect for him, as well as the fact that he's Kakashi's student, Akira respects him... grudgingly.
