incidentally: nobody won the $5 grand prize...it was the 7th year anniversary of Duke Nukem: Forever being announced...i offered to give $5 because thats how much i lost on the pre-order at funcoland...back in the days before they all turned into gamestop...
in other news: this man is who i would be, given the course his life took. drunk and weak, he apostatizes when put to the test, yet always returns to seek absolution. betrays rodrigues only to be so guilt-stricken that he turns himself in as christian to inoue at the prison in nagasaki.
bonus: the antithesis of the previous man and companion to rodrigues, this man is everything i would want to be. he is, IMO, the greatest figure in this novel, dying in the attempt to rescue those he had already saved before.
