And we're baaaack!

*sigh*

Well, we completed the move to what we are lovingly calling either "Superhouse" or "Brown Manor". Moved and unpacked @120 boxes, maybe a dozen Rubbermade tubs, several bureaus of clothes in their drawers, five closets, the furniture of 6 rooms, an entire basement workshop (largely mine), and a comic book collection of >8000 issues (largely married into). Between Wednesday and Monday morning, with Sunday off for good behavior and a day at Al's grandmother's lakefront house. Sitting all day for work today was nice. As was the cool temp of the finished basement when telecommuting in my 90 degree second floor office became uncomfortable.

I have full wi-fi bars down here, which is nice (2 floors under my router). And using my old lapdesk prevented the usual laptop overheat, so I think I have a winner. I discovered this weekend that the furniture the previous owners left us in the basement (now Meg's playroom) is all reclining pieces, so I was able to kick up my feet and work in about 70 degrees without any A/C.

One thing is certain. This is where I'll be doing the BSG rewatch tonight, since wresting control of the 55" HD TV upstairs from my husband is less likely than hell frosting up, but it's cool, comfy, and has a bigger TV than I'd been using for it in the old house. :)

Now that the work is done around here, I'm hoping to do some writing, but that remains to be seen. I feel very disconnected from my internet habits. Funny how a few days away makes me feel lost when I come back. And I'm still running just a scosh on overload from the move.

The night before the move, Meg asked me to call the new owners of our old house and reschedule, which cracked me up coming from a 5 year old. Precocious much? The first night here took a little while to get her to stay in bed, as she'd never gone to bed on a floor we weren't on (first floor bedrooms before, second floor now). Thursday, she got up asking to go home, which was a little bit sad. True to form, however, by the next day, she pronounced that she'd "gotten used to the new house" and was no longer missing the old house as much. It may have helped that we finished unpacking her toys into her playroom before taking her to preschool Friday morning.

And now, I'm off to the hardware store to replace the sticking front door handleset, then daycare for mini-me, dinner with my sisters and nephew (it IS Tuesday after all!), and our weekly Rock Band session with my sister Kim. And the added bonus of the BSG rewatch afterward! What a day!
