In good news:
* We officially have a lawyer for the crash thing. Yay!
* OryCon was v. cool; I got to see
aprivatefox and
mufi and a friend of mine who doesn't have an LJ, dammit. I should try to talk her into getting one, if only so I can name-link. ;) Of course I got to see the usual suspects as well, which was also great, and
gwyd and
joyinthedark require a particular and heart-felt thanks and appreciation. Good things should be done for them. LJ-less Portland-area Friend also, actually. And thanks to
penghuin for lending his roof, even if we ended up not staying there at the last minute. Next year insist they adjust any work schedules to be in Portland so you can come to con; it isn't quite the same otherwise. ;)
* The cats are sleek and solid and happy.
* I got the old laser printer working! Nice-looking output, too. Cool. :)
* I finally got another pair of jeans. Hurrah! And only 8 months after I decided that would be my birthday present to myself, just before my favourite pair got destroyed. (I miss those.) Which I guess means I'm still down at least one pair, but eh, next month maybe.
In less good news:
* We didn't really get enough for the car to get a new one (at least, not one worth buying), and they won't reimburse us for all the buses and taxis we had to take. Jerks. And the place the cops had our car towed turned out to be incompetent (and/or dishonest) jerks. Anyway, transportation's in sort of a holding pattern for now. Eventually it'll get worked out. Meanwhile LTD and one of the taxi companies love us.
* Two days ago, my monitor died. Sigh. It was a big ol' CRT... 19" I think, since I measured the screen yesterday and it was 18" viewable. Huge monster of a thing. But it had nice colour and good controls, was never blurry... I guess 9-10 years and two cross-country moves is probably all one can ask of a monitor, though. Tried it again yesterday, just hoping, and it did work better than when it fritzed... but it's still not really usable. :/ So now I'm on the 'spare', a hand-me-down 15" (13.7" viewable) IBM monitor that was on the server before the server plotzed. No... room... :( I could probably cope with the crowding, the burn-in, and even the squeal, but yesterday the image suddenly fizzed for a moment, so now I'm frantically researching LCDs and trying to find a good one I can come up with the cash for. I really wish we had more, bigger, better, and closer computer stores in this area; I don't really want to buy a monitor sight unseen. Maybe tomorrow I'll go bus around everywhere and see what I can find to look at in person. And then order online where it costs less. >_>
* I cannot draw or write anything I don't hate to save my life. WTF. Meh.
* It's freakin' cold in here! But warmer than Troy. Then again, Mars was often warmer than Troy. Anyway, more blankets!
* I slept extra-weird hours (getting over a cold) and forgot to wish
percussivebunny a happy bithday on Monday. Happy belated birthday! Hope matrimony's treating you right. ;)
