Choice...

I believe that women deserve to have control over our own bodies and lives, for starters. And that a lot of anti-abortion vehemence comes from a desire to keep us "in our place," just like a lot of other things that only or disproportionately affect the lives of women.

However. On purely practical terms, legal abortion is the only humane choice. Like the prohibition of alcohol did, like prohibition of drugs and prostitution does now, prohibition of abortion won't and never did stop it. It just makes it unregulated, underground, and far, far more dangerous than it has to be.

I read all of both of them. It's bad enough that that was the past; I dread the idea that it could also be the future.
