Sweetie, we discovered, has a terribly infected wound (bite?) on the base of her tail.  Arg.  We cleaned it as best we could (I had no idea cat-pus looked so much like phlegm), but she's gonna have to see a vet.  Poor li'l old thing.  She's gotten SO skinny, too. :/

We use the Troy Vetrinary Hospital (also a standard vet) up on Hoosick and have been happy with them.

She's not that old is she? Poor girl - the skinny worries me much, much more than the wound - though her body not being able to take care of routine maintenance is probably symptomatic. You might do a renal screening on her - weightloss is often a sign of kidneys going.

And cats sometimes mirror their owners predicaments - so eyeball her for whatever is ailing you.

Things that have skinniness as a symptom/outcome are things that are not MY medical problems. ;)

You have a good point, though, and one I didn't think of, being so close to her. We're going to take her for a check up as soon as we can.

Oh, and when I adopted her they said she was "six or seven," and that was seven years ago, so she's probably 13 or 14 years old.
