infrequent update here.
going camping this weekend with my lovely wife and our ridiculous dogs at ocean cove. one of the dogs (ripley) is afraid of the dark, so this should be kinda funny. :)
enjoying summer a lot, much to the detriment of my liver. just hanging out for the most part and trying to fit in as much socializing as possible. wish we had time for a trip back to michigan but i don't think it'll happen this summer. we've been tossing around the idea of coming back to MI for ALL of next summer so meg can do some work for zingerman's and i could do an externship or something at MSU, or maybe just work at a specialty hospital there or something. it probably won't happen, and what probably WILL happen is a week or 2 vacation, but it's fun to think about. we have mad plans to live in so many places..
getting really stoked to move to davis. 6 weeks and 4 days until i start vet school. auuuuuughhh!!! that is pretty crazy. i first decided to go to vet school in late 2002/early 2003. so 6.5ish years later, here i am getting started. it took me a while, but i got here! in the meantime, meg and i have lied together in 7 different apartments in 4 different cities, gotten married (twice!), merged our many animals into one household, added some chickens to the menagerie, meg has started business school and is already halfway done, and had many ridiculous adventures along the way. it's been a pretty great couple years. my path could have been more direct but i wouldn't want it any other way. i am so incredibly happy to be where i am. it's a pretty amazing feeling to feel the rewards of the work i've put in over the years. and it's pretty amazing to have my beautiful wife, who i just keep falling more and more in love with all the time.
in other awesome-tastic news, our shitty ex-landlord from our apartment in oakland decided that she would rather just pay us back our security and pet deposit that she illegally withheld (for 11 months now) instead of being sued in small claims court. so woohoo! we're going to get a chunk of change back any day now which will be awesome. good to get our financial situation as stable as possible before we're both full-time students for a year. :-0
still haven't gotten my financial aid package from school yet. uc davis is part of the university of california system which is pretty dramatically affected by the utter disaster of the california budget. hopefully that gets sorted out soon, i am stressed about waiting on that and not having every last thing taken care of. plus the sooner that goes through means the sooner i can buy my sweet new laptop from the school! they pre-load it with all the school security software and some special vet school apps. stoked! also stoked to have a computer that works. meg and i ahve been sharing hers for a couple months. it's fine because neither of us are in school at the moment but once we are, no more sharey sharey. that might be a stress our marriage could not handle. :) also stoked to get a free ipod touch with my computer. i think i'm going to try and trade it on craigslist for a game system. i am torn between the wii and the xbox. the xbox primarily would be for rock band though, and i mostly just go to zoe's house to play that. i think the wii is a better idea. and meg is more excited about the wii so that definitely factors in, because overall she is not into video games at all. she is weirdly good at the drums for rock band tho. hmmmmmm, decisions, decisions....
and AGH! trying to scrape up some cash to get a new tattoo. i have an awesome plan for my right leg, knee to ankle. going to have melissa taylor do it, she works at diving swallow in oakland as well as some other places, and works with me as a vet tech too. it has been too long since the last one, which was new years eve 2007, i'm pretty sure. the heart that chad did is still super bright and looks like it was done a few weeks ago. his color work is amazing, which is why i'm bummed that he's not local at all.
ok....... should probably head to bed, since i have to be at work in like 6.5 hours. took a big nap today so now the sleep schedule is fu-bar.
