The Last Christmas lyrics
This year is different than last,
And all of the Christmas has past,
The carolers singing and sleigh bells are ringing.
But there's still one thing I must ask.
Please don't leave.
There's still presents under the tree.
It's you, you, you I need.
The fireplace is warm and dry,
The wind soaks the trees on this cold winters night.
As you tell me we've shared our last
There's just one more thing that I have to ask.
Please don't leave,
There's still presents under the tree.
It's you, you, you I need.
A Christmas story is on the t.v.,
Randy is showing how the piggies eat.
And I'm laughing through the tears,
That was our movie for all of these years.
Please don't leave,
there's still presents under the tree.
It's you, you, you I need.
The Last Christmas-
The faint glow of the TV lit the dark room in light colors, changing from reds to greens, and blues across the furniture.
The fire place crackled with a dying fire, the warmth still emitting from orange embers.
The snow outside fell in light wisps of white, flurring and blowing around, covering every inch of grass with small, cold flakes.
Matt sat on the couch, his head leaning back against the cushions, a blank, sad expression on his face.
His chest moved in a steady rythm, his breathing even and quiet.
He stared at the television set, watching with very little emotion, as the characters on the screen laughed and held eachother as they lit their beautiful christmas tree.
He glanced over at the pine tree that was set up in the corner of the room, a glint of light from the television was caught in the silver tinsel, causing the shiny threads to sparkle.
He let out a choked sigh before bringing his attention back to the screen.
The different sized packages, colorfully wrapped in pretty paper and bows, nestled snuggly under the tree, depressed the singer even more, and he wanted to throw all of the boxes into the fire.
His thoughts and heart werent with the movie, but he kept it on to keep himself from feeling anymore alone.
In his rough hands he clutched a small, black fedora styled hat, stroking the soft fabric with his thumb, remembering the best times of his life that happened exactly where he was sitting, only a year before.
The tears started glistening in the corners of his blue eyes, and he closed them to keep the liquid from flowing freely down his face.
He ran a shaking hand over the top of his shaved head, and bit his quivering lip to keep the sobs from escaping his throat.
He looked up at the movie to keep himself distracted, only to feel his heart break again and his throat constrict, causing him even more pain.
It was the scene.
That scene.
It had to be that scene.
The scene that made both of them giggle and laugh out loud together, causing tears to flow down their happy faces, as they held eachother under a warm blanket next the fire.
The scene when the little boy was showing his loving family just how piggies eat.
The way he snorted and giggled loudly always made Matt crack up.
This time it was different.
This time it wasnt happy.
It didnt make him throw his head back and laugh out loud.
The tears were streaming down his pale face, but instead of grinning and rewinding his favorite part over and over again, he wished he had never seen it.
He wished he could forget it. All of it.
Everything. He hated it. Dispised it.
He wanted it all to go away.
Leave him alone to die in peace.
He didnt want to remember anymore.
He wanted all of the happy and sad memories to dissapear.
He wanted to take back what he had done.
He wanted to rewind his mistake.
He wanted him back.
He wanted only him. No one else.
But he knew he couldnt take it back.
He knew he couldnt get everything back to the way it was.
The way he loved it. When he was happy.
Never again, and it was all his fault.
The large man covered his face with his strong hands and cried into his palms.
He placed the hat lovingly to the side, and glanced at it one last time before turning away to leave.
He wiped his streaming eyes, knowing just how alone he was, and whispered softly into the dark, empty room.
"Im sorry. I am so, SO sorry. I wish I could take everything back. Im so stupid. I love you, Brian. Good bye, my beautiful prince. Merry Christmas."
THE END
