[A green thumb, Donatello does not have. At least in the metaphorical sense. He's just here to spend time with his father, enjoy the weather, and provide heavy lifting services, while Splinter engages in the delicate work of encouraging plants to grow.]
[Splinter has always wanted a garden, and now he has one. It had taken a few missteps to truly get it started, but now Splinter was happy with its progress. (Reading about gardening at the library had been so incredibly useful!)
He chuckles at his son, pausing in his humming.]
Nor can I. Time only seems to pass all the quicker the older you and your brothers grow.
[Splinter is currently checking over Leonardo's tomato plants to see how they are doing. They're already bearing fruit, but it's starting to get a tad ridiculous now.]
