NaNoWriMo meets buddy cops

So.

The thing is, kalahiet is a terrible person and is fully one-half of what is generally known as the Department of Bad Ideas at our workplace. She has also done NaNo for something like five years running.

I think we can all see where this is going, and it mostly ends with me pointing an accusing finger and shrieking HER HER IT WAS ALL HER I DIDN'T KNOW SHE TOLD ME TO.

In other words, I had a brief moment of insanity earlier this year and signed up for National Novel Writing Month, because self-flagellation is a fun time, amirite?

I am, deep breath, going to be using that month to write more of the ridiculous Buddy Cops AU. It's still going to be in the form of snippets and snapshots instead of a more traditional linear narrative, but with all of the stuff in my head that happens in this universe, there should not be any difficulty whatsoever in getting 50,000 words out of it.

I'm mostly telling you guys in the faint hope that someone remembers this AU, and the admittedly more self-serving desire to have some of you kick my ass to keep going with this throughout the month. I am HELLA INTIMIDATED, guys.

I may post bits as I go along or I may not. The point of NaNo is to write lots without worrying as much about quality or editing until afterwards, but I'm not sure I'm capable of just powering through and worrying about it later. I'm even less sure that I'm capable of posting something that I don't think is good enough to qualify as finished yet, even if it's just a snippet. On the other hand, if I post as I go along and get feedback, it may help encourage and/or threaten me into continuing.

In other words, please do not be alarmed if you pass by this way throughout the month of November and find me whimpering quietly in a corner. I'm told mental breakdowns are an intrinsic part of the process.
