Dr. Who -- The Sound of Drums

Jun 24, 2007 02:54

BTW: I think the episode Blink might be a good intro to Dr Who. Granted, it doesn't show much, but it's a good way to introduce the concept... Basically, 'That guy's a time travelling alien. That woman is human and wanders around with him.' and that's all the info you need to give.

Then, you can sit back, enjoy the episode, and watch your friends dive behind the couch... Bwahahahahaha!

Hell, a coworker, who's never even heard of Dr. Who was creeped out about the concept. I told her the story line... She'll never look at things the same way again...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I made a comment over on jinxed-wood's livejournal post about this episode, and thought it was basically all I wanted to say about the episode, so here it is. My thoughts on this week's Dr Who.

Well, there are two more things I wanted to say as well...

Why create a post, when you can recycle comments! [beam]

The main thing I got from this episode... Mrs Saxon. Man, that woman, she just blew me away.

Talk about evil! Very, very nicely written and acted.

In the beginning, she acted just like a normal politician wife, and seemed a little mousy and oblivious to the ultimate evil she married... Then, "He was good to my father, you see." And, from there! Eeek!

And, while the Master was gleeing over the screams of newspaper lady, she seemed a little distraught over the death of the woman.

But, by the time the episode ended, and she was dancing to the song while the humans of Earth were literally being decimated, I decided she was just distraught over the possible ruination of the decor. And, the high pitched screams.

Oh, and Number 10 sure has some nice soundproofing in their rooms!

And, I liked all of the bits the Master put in. Calling his wife his Companion, the Jelly Babies, 'this country needs a Doctor'... That man was having too much damn fun!

I actually had the beat of the drums stuck in my head for an hour or two after seeing the episode.

Oh, and suddenly, I'm wondering if she's human or just looking human... That, or the thought of the Master deciding to pick up psychopathic companions is just freaky!

Gah! Now I'm imagining him interviewing Hannibal Lector for the job... Make it stop! [whimper]
