Ith told me about Cowboy Action Shooting. It's like the SCA, but it's in the old west... with guns! That you shoot!
If you get into it, you make up a persona.
Ever since she told me about it, the brain has been percolating on what my persona would be...
Said with a soft Southern accent:
"Good Evening, gentlemen. My name is Isobel Standish, direct descendant of the great Myles Standish of Pilgrim fame. I come from a long line of cotton plantation owners. However, due to that pesky war, my family fortune, along with my family, was lost. The Northern Aggressors are responsible for my dear brother Edgar's death. Daddy was killed in a tragic accident at the beginning of the war. Momma... well, Momma just wasted away after Daddy died.
"Luckily, before his tragic demise, Edgar taught me everything he knew about gambling and guns.
"The game is blackjack, gentlemen. Dealer holds at 17, blackjack pays double. Ante up."
And, I've got other bits... She spent a few years in England for some reason I'm still working on. Mostly because my southern accent likes to slip into English accented words when I speak for a long period. (Damn my time in England)
She's comfortable in a dress, but prefers pants. Mostly because then, I get to wear a cowboy hat, and a gun or rifle wouldn't look out of place. Plus, a dress would be much more expensive than a pant outfit.
So, if I do get into Cowboy Action Shooting, I've got it made! :)
