Side notes and whatnot

Silliness.

So I went to an orthopedist yesterday and explained how I had managed to dislocate my patella by rocking too hard, and he told me, "You know, this may surprise you, but this isn't the first time I've heard that exact story." I asked him to clarify (I believe my exact words were, "No shit?"), and he went on to explain that he, individually, has seen multiple patients with Guitar-Hero-related knee injuries.

This means I am not the first to rock so hard.

Damn.

So yeah, apparently, it's quite common to dislocate one's patella whilst wielding the toy axe. I mean, he also included people playing DDR (and, testament to the injury's popularity, the doc referred to the game as DDR), but I don't count that because in a game where the mechanism by which you complete your objective is to jump around like a jackass, you tend to do that. By contrast, I think it speaks volumes more that jumping around like a jackass is so intertwined with a game wherein one's ostensive goal is to mimic guitaring. So intertwined, in fact, that injuries result with tiresome frequency.

Anyway, I should probably be fine in a month or two (and two is at the far outside). Until then, I may have to make use of Craig's sail-eille (or, if you prefer, shillelagh). That is, if he can bear to part with it.

In other news, some dude has a really cool wobsite, and I think you should check it out. Of specific note are:Religion is Like Wine (humorous and wise)
The Day We Learned (short, sweet, and wise)
Kissing Hank's Ass (humorous, and that's all)
The Physician and the Priest (a modern day parable - good stuff)
I like this guy a lot. I mean, so far, anyway. I especially like his FAQ.
