Customer: hello I'd like to buy the 299pound laptop you have advetised on tv
me: sorry we sold out of those at around 4pm this afternoon
customer: oh well I have a gold membership 10% discount card and told us to only come in store between 8-10pm which is unfair as we had no chance of buying the laptop
me: well it is subject to availability I'm really sorry you missed the offer but ther really isnt anything I can do
Customer (getting angry) : well it wasnt made clear...! can I buy one now and pick it up when you next get a delivery
me(getting fed up): sorry I think the laptop has been discontinued so I dont want to put the sale through as we'll probably have to refund you in a few days if it doesnt turn up we cant order stock but we can request from other stores but unfortuanatly no other store in the country has them either so its just pot luck if one turns up on our delivery tomorrow give the store a call tomorrow and see if we got them in save yourself a wasted journey I'llet you the number
Customers red faced wife: can I speak to you manager please!
Manager: hello? yes sorry the offer is subject to availability I'm afraid as the other stores are all out of stock there is nothing I can do for you other than show you simalar spec laptops for around the same price range
customer: well the girl here says you will be getting a delivery tomorrow so cant we get one then
me: sorry to interupt but I said we may and I thought it was likelythat we wouldntinfact get any as I did tell youI thought it had been discountinued
customer: no you made it sound like you where getting more in
me: I dont want to argue but I said we MAY get another delivery and I THINK they have been discontunues so probably wouldnt get a delivery but you should check in the morning as you where so disapointed
I then wander off to speak to a customer thats not a total A HOLE
........ to cut a long story short the customer was asked to leave the store by the acting store manager then comes back in 15 min later and speaks to the manager who has returned from his break and complains to him. myself and the acting mangager and the manager now have complaints filled against us and we have had to submit incident reports to head office because mr and mrs A hole dont understand the subject to availability small print on their discount card! *sigh* oh well only one more day in then 2 days off.... YIPPEE!
