Getting Lost on the Path of Life

Feb 03, 2012 21:23

It was this time of day he loved the most. The night not quite here, the day not quite gone, the soft glow of twilight hanging about the school as the newest teacher in the school finished getting settled in. He sighed as he stepped out of his classroom, closing and locking the door behind him.

As he often did, he began to walk, getting 'lost on the ( Read more... )

Konan had just closed up the Library and was about to head on home. None of the students had stayed after class so she decided to close it up earlier than she usually would.

Walking down the hallways, the soft sound of a piano chort grabs her attention as she passes the music room. Not expecting anyone to be in there, especially seeing as none of the students seemed to care for music bar one, she stops, talking a ew steps back and peeking through the open door.

....And she has no idea who the man is, as she silently watches him.

Of course he knew she was there, the soft sound of footsteps, the swish of clothing. He stroked his fingers over the keys once more before he shed the fine black sports coat he wore, folding it over his arm and laying on the bench. He unbuttoned his sleeves, rolling them up as he settled down.

His eye fell to the keys as his hands eased into place, beginning to play a rather lovely classical piece, Rondo Alla Turca. The song was happy and bouncy, but flowing all at the same time. He almost seemed off in his own world as he played, his gaze fixated on the keys.

She continues watching for a moment, intrigued as to who this person is and what they were doing here in the school's music room, yet she can't look away.

...Until she realises that she has been staring for a good minute or so, and it is way past that point in where finally speaking up is going to seem awkward. Letting out a small cough to grab the man's attention, she speaks up.

"Ah.. hello..? Are you new here?"

Ever patient, he simply waited until the woman made herself known, lowering the volume of his playing so that he could speak with her, his gaze never leaving the keys.

"Yes I am. I was hired as the new Literature instructor." He teased the keys gently rounding the song off easily to a smooth finish. He turned around on the bench to face her, a smile on his face.

"Hatake Kakashi...at your service miss."

"O-oh.." Konan is quite taken aback momentarily, simply because she is not used to people around here being so polite.

Stepping further into the room, she offers him a small smile. "Pleased to meet you. My name is Konan, I run the library here.."

He stood, rolling his sleeves back down. "A fellow appreciator of books hm?" He smiled lightly. "That's refreshing." He had to admit, where he was from, there was little love for the written word. Then again, books weren't all that handy for keeping a sniper from putting a hollow point into your skull.

Kakashi picks up his coat and lays it over his arm, his posture an odd mixture of comfortable and tense. "I didn't know anyone else was here.."

She nods in reply to his question. Not only was it her job in this school but it was also a keen intrest.. curling up with a good book was one of Konan's favourite activities.

"Ah.. I had some paperwork to do, and I usually have the library open after classes in case any of the students need help with their homework or anything. Most of the other staff have left though, I think." A lot of them are more eager to get out of the building than the students are, but she won't mention that. Kakashi will see it for himself, soon enough..

The silver haired man nodded gently at that. "Hm, you might find me in there more often than not." Indeed, he was a lover of all things books, his apartment a bit crowded from bookshelves and a few cases that held first editions and signed copies, some of the books olde than him, passed down from his father.

"Any particular favorites of yours Konan-san?" He tilted his head a bit as his hands slipped, tucking into the pockets of his dress pants.

"Are you a reader too then, Kakashi-san?" The smile becomes more comfortable as they share their interest.

"I enjoy mystery novels.. but I must confess that that I am a bit of a sucker for the romantic novels..." She may have grown up into a strong, independent women but she will never be free from the idea that some dashing Austen gentlemen will come and sweep her off her feet.

"And what about you? Do you have any particular favourites?"

"Indeed I am." He bowed his head, the smile behind his mask widening a but. At the question of his favored choice in books, he glanced up.

"Hm, I'm a fan of the classics myself, though I don't mind a good romance as long as it's well written." Frank as always, Kakashi didn't see any problem with a man liking romance, after all.

"Well the Library has quite a good selection." Konan had taken the time to order many good titles in the hopes that it could get some of the students interested in reading. "You should take a look at some point."

"I had planned on it actually." He nodded at that and smiled a bit, glancing over his shoulder towards the piano then back to her.

"Do you enjoy music as well at books Konan-san?" Since they were busily talking about interests, he may as well bring up his other love.

She looks over to the piano, feeling a little embarrassed all of a sudden. "I actually play a little... I only know classical pieces though.."

Her favourite kind of music in fact, and if Kakashi ever gets around to visiting the library he will find that there is always a piece of Mozart, Chopin or some other composer playing in the background.
