I'm about to drop some knowledge on you bitches!
In the title of my last post, I used the word "stat". Stat comes from the latin word "statum". That's right, our lazy asses abbreviated a six letter word down to four letters. Does that really save that much time? Anyways, the original latin word roughly translates to "before now". So in essence, if I were to say I needed something "stat" and your were to hand me the item I needed before I could finish telling you that I needed it, it would still be too late. This begs the question: if you needed it before now, why the hell didn't you just ask for it sooner?
This reminds me of a product we sell at work. It's a small bottle of liquid simply called "accelerant" and it is for use with instant adhesives. Of course, I have to wonder why you would need such a thing for a product that is already billed as "instant". I now know that it is for the person who needs one object adhered to another, stat.
I can just envision the scenario....
Man #1: "I need this glued fast!"
Man #2: "Sure thing. This instant adhesive will do the trick."
Man #1: "No, that's not fast enough! I need it done... STAT!"
Man #2: "Well, I'm not sure what you expect me to do because I don't know what could possibly be faster than something that works instantaneously."
Man #3 overhears all of this and comes running up
Man #3: "Did I hear you say you need something glued fast? I think I may have a solution.... Here, use this accelerant to make the instant glue work faster."
Man #1: "Well, it's worth a shot."
Man #1 applies the instant adhesive and the accelerant
Man #2: "Wait, what's this warning on the label about possible damage to time and spa..."
Time and space fold back on themselves
Man #1: "I need this glued fa.... Hey, it's already glued!"
A predestination paradox is created and time is caught in an infinite loop, thereby destroying any chance of having a future beyond the point of the accelerant being used.
So, where am I going with all of this? Uh.... I'm not sure anymore. I kind of derailed a ways back...
I guess the moral of my little story is this: Before you say "stat", consider the possible impact it could have on the space-time continuum.
