So here's the post I was trying to make yesterday but seemed to get lost somewhere:
I had a fun weekend.
Friday, I hung around and relaxed after a particularly stressful week at work. A bunch of us went to see The Prestige and I was blown away by it. Great movie. One of the best of the year. And it contains SCIENCE! in some scenes rather than mere science, which is always a plus. Oh, and on Friday night I was informed I have two new sisters. I didn't get a choice in the matter - they just kinda adopted me. As if I didn't have my hands full with one real sister, now I have two more to deal with.
Saturday, a bunch of us went to Wagamamas for dinner. That was fun, but the interesting part of the night only started later on when we moved on to the recently re-opened Le Cheile. It was quite busy in there and there was an awful, awful band playing. Over the course of the night, much alcohol was consumed and I ended up in a conversation with a pair of random strange women about whether Nellie the Elephant left the circus or joined the circus, gave a random passing birthday girl a birthday kiss and had a rather intriguing opportunity drawn to my attention by a friend.
Sunday was a much more relaxed day and only saw a small crowd for our usual Sunday morning breakfast. I was a little disappointed at that - I far prefer when our legion of hungry people descend on the restaurant and seize at least three tables. We'll have to do better next week. Other than breakfast, we just kinda hung around for the afternoon before I had to take off home because somewhere along the way I'd picked up a headache that was beginning to kick my ass.
All in all (except for that headache part) it was a fun relaxing weekend.
Right - now a quick addition to the post from yesterday. I had ordered some DVDs from Play.com in a sale. I had season 1 and 2 of a show on the way to me. I was getting frustrated at waiting so long for them since it had been a week and nothing arrived yet. Finally, yesterday a package from Play.com arrives at the office. Only one though. And typically it's season 2 - so it gets to be a paperweight until I can watch season 1. :( Hopefully season 1 will arrive today.
Over the last day I also learned one or two things about myself I'm not proud of but I've made my peace with that already. It made me think though - they say wisdom comes with age and while I'm a long way off from that, already it amazes me how much time and energy I wasted on pointless things when I was younger. How important all the drama and crap that went on seemed to be. Maybe I'm just getting too old for all that shit.
Anyway, I'm off to do some work.
