Missin' Dixie

Hey there kids, ole Pappa Ryan back for some postin'.
So we're almost in October and autumn has yet to descend upon Champaign-Urbana, which brings me to the subject of my post. As I was driving home tonight I had on the local country station, and I really started to miss Virginia. Southern mentality can really drive me nuts, its true, but I got it my bones somewhere along the way. I love the fresh air ontop of the Appalachian Mountains, picking apples in Carter Orchard, the way the leaves change in the thousands of acres of woods that I would normally be walking through, the perma-smell of wood fires, the awesome crispness (or even sharpness as lindsay might say) in the air, and the look of Kane road as you go flying down it at 80 mph while still being able to catch the red leaves.
Only the good lord knows if I'll ever live back down there, DC might be the closest I come, but to all my homies in the RIC keep it real and enjoy the weather.
And to all of you who have never seen the mountains in the autumn, you really have no idea what you're missing. It is a fucking religious experience.

Country roads take me home
