Curing the Blind.

Today, I was up at 9am. This was because plumbers came round to swap out our leaky boiler, which is housed in a cupboard in my room. Seeing how I didn't want to be rudely awakened by them, I set my alarm for the morning and woke up that way instead. Apparently, the new boiler doesn't have enough pressure in it to supply the shower in mum's room with hot water. Unfortunately, that's the one I tend to use. So I guess I'll have to use the crappy shower in the bathroom instead.

One of my younger cousins (the one who is less stupid than the other one) has been coming round over the past few days. He's been asking me for game and anime recommendations. He's one of those people who're all about instant entertainment. Anything that takes more than maybe 10 whole seconds to get into will probably pass right by this guy; as his attention span really is close to being that short. He likes anime. Actually, to be more accurate, he likes Love Hina. If anything I describe is anything short of being nothing but blatant and obvious comedy, then he won't be interested in it. You mention the word "character" and he instantly fobs it off. In games, he skips cut scenes. He doesn't care what's going on, he wants to play. Cut scenes are all boring. 2D is crap. The PSP is cool. PS3 is going to rock. He is your typical Chinese guy; who's all too ready to judge something purely, and exclusively, on the way it looks and nothing more. So here I am, someone who prefers depth and complexity over shallow-minded button-mashing, trying to recommend anime and games to him. I see it as my duty as family to broaden the mind of such a person, who is doomed to become one of the unfortunate many in society. I managed to get him to watch, and like, Suzumiya. I don't think he's watched any of the other stuff I put on the DVD for him (Black Lagoon and Final Approach). It's a start, but I think he only takes not of teh funny. On recounting series highlights, he can't even remember anyone's names. Actually, he can't even remember what the series is called. I also managed to convert him to Guitar Hero, despite his initial opinion (from looking at the front of the box) that it was shit. He played Shadow of the Colossus and skipped every cut scene, and got annoyed that you had to actually travel to each battle yourself.

Well~ He is only, uh... a number at between 14 and 18... years-old, I guess.

So this is probably gonna be my last post for the next 10 days. Not that I suppose many of you will be that bothered anyway, but I felt that I should say something all the same XD I'll be back on July 11th

I'll see if I can update while I'm over there. In the best case scenario, the people we're staying with will have a computer that they're willing to let me use from time to time. Otherwise, I'll have to try and find a public computer or something.

Anyway. I'll catch you guys when I get back, if not earlier.

See you~

holiday
