Prepare yourself...

...30 days of unending shitty Christmas music is coming.

Wow. I've really fallen out of updating this thing. When was my last proper post? Like, last year? Lol.

Actually, I look now and it was summer. Not as long ago as I thought...

Anyway! So what's been going on with me between now and then? Well, I went to JAPAN. Omg. Went with Aron and Ysan, touring the south coast (because, no matter how much I wanted super powers, they were adamant that I wouldn't get them by being mildly irradiated travelling northwards) for 2 weeks before spending a 3rd week in Tokyo. Probably the best 3 weeks of MY LIFE. I ate as much food as I could and still didn't come close to my original goal of EAT EVERYTHING. Some stops include: Yokohama, Osaka, Hakone (aka. Tokyo-3), Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima... all good places. Japan has a lot of temples. It is also full of up. Man, I have not walked/hiked upwards so much in all my life. It was such a blast! I couldn't possibly adequately describe how much fun we had in words, and I am terrible at recollecting what I did yesterday, let alone for 3 whole weeks of constantly doing stuff 2 months ago. The only thing I do remember, though, is I MISS BORDER BREAK T_T Dat game. I spent my last 4 hours of Tokyo sat in an arcade in Akiba with a bag of 100yen coins, playing the shit out of it because I knew it'd be a long time till I got to play it again D= I also had a breakfast consisting of tonkatsu sandwiches and a can of coffee every morning for 3 weeks. I also drank Aquarius constantly. I was a little afraid of bombarding my stomach with so much electrolytes would upset the sodium channels and cause me to shit myself everywhere. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Unfortunately, I failed my haematology resit. Doh! 8D Which has now resulted in my resitting the whole thing, with attendance, and forking out for the course out of my own pocket as well as investing what little annual leave I had left into taking time off for the lectures. I don't know if this is contractually fair, but I am accepting it as being some sort of karmic fairness. The only difference this time round is that I'm attending the same lectures as the Applied Biomed students would be attending, which means I have no lectures till after Christmas (but longer stints in uni which, thankfully, is mostly near the end of my shift so doesn't require much time off), and instead of attending the compulsory labs and doing the other coursework I have about 6 essays to write. I got my first 3 at the end of October, to be handed in yesterday. So that was 3x1800-word essays to write in one month. Sufficed to say, I mostly had no life in November as I resigned myself to the fact that, for almost every day that month, I'd need to write a few hundred words between coming home from work and sleeping. I allowed myself the odd day off, and one or two weekends away, just to keep me sane. All in all, I think it worked. It helps that the essays were essentially just exam questions too, so nothing too complicated.

That's really the only important developments in my life between now and my last proper-ish post, I guess.

So, it's coming to that time of year that I hate because I never know what to get anyone because I am so damn picky with gifts. I think everyone else calls it "Christmas". I hope no one is terribly offended if I don't get them anything this year, as I've left it a little late, and probably couldn't find the perfect (in my opinion) gift for you. So far, only Alun is sorted because I bought his while I was in Japan. I am in the process of drawing up a mental list (I should probably make a physical backup as anything in my mind doesn't hang around long) of what to get who. My policy is always that I don't expect presents in return, but people seem insistent on wanting to know what to get me, so I've made a bit of a list this time (and it's not just games SHOCKHORROR):

  • Batman Arkham City for the PS3 (ok, well, so I will start with a game...)
  • Shadow of the Colossus/ICO HD Classics for PS3
  • Something by H. P. Lovecraft (yeh, thasrite; that there's a book)
  • The Iron Jackal by Chris Wooding (Yep - another book! Though I think someone may already have dibs on getting me this)
  • Something from this site. (as a guide, I like SC2 and play Zerg. I also don't get Minecraft, and dabble in WoW - quite like the rogue class tee and anything zerg-y from the SC2 section though I think someone might be getting me the For The Swarm tee).
  • A pair of leather gloves - not too thin as to not be warm, but not so thick that I feel like I'm driving with oven mitts (yeah, I'm awkward like that).
  • Anything else you think I might like

And that's all I can think of right now, really. See you next year, lol.

omgjapan, xmas list, life (or lack thereof), life
