I'm still alive! I just realised that I hadn't posted since when I said I would try and get to Newcastle in the snow XD
Well, sufficed to say, I made it there and back with no problems whatsoever. The only reason we ever slowed down significantly on the way up was because there was heavy snow passing Yorkshire and visibility was cut down drastically. Other than that, the roads themselves were fine.
Weekend up at Newcastle was great. Lauren's aunt owns a hotel by the coast, and she was looking after the place while they went on holiday, so she invited a bunch of people for a party XD There was alcohol, King's Game, Singstar, and glee. Which is always good to have at a party.
I've gone and booked some random days off to use up my annual leave. I had so much annual leave left, and that needed to be used up by March. I had something like 80-odd hours. So I ended up booking last Friday and today off (however, I had a 9am seminar at uni to attend which meant I needed to be up at half 6 in the morning >_>), as well as a week in Feb and about a week and a half in March XD
Was also at Nuneaton to visit GemmAlun Z on Saturday. Aron, Ysan and Jay were also there. Kev and Viv were also meant to be there, but their car broke down en route and so they didn't make it =( It was a pretty typical day as far as hanging out at Alun's was concerned, so that meant games and youtube silliness mostly XD We went out to a nice Thai restaurant in Nuneaton in the evening, by which time I was absolutely starving! The food was yummy, and on our walk back we were playing vocaloid and youtube music through our phones XD
Today, I actually felt like I had time to sort some stuff out. After the morning seminar at uni, I stopped off in town to set up a standing order from my current account to my bank. I figure I should start saving while I'm kinda still living without too many financial commitments.
I also went to a few places to enquire about a new front bumper for my car. The annoying thing is, while my Civic's body type is exactly the same as all the ones released between 2000-2005, the front bumper is different. This is because the 2005 Civics were actually a slight variant on the previous models (as far as I can tell, the front and back bumpers look different, the front grill is different and the indicator lights are no longer on the wing mirrors). And from 2006 they brought out the completely new Civic (the one that looks like a space car). So, really, 2nd hand parts for my car would probably be in pretty short supply, seeing how they were only made available during the final year of that particular model. I am perhaps being a bit picky. As the bumper from a pre-05 Civic would likely still fit, as the only difference is the grill, which is part of the bumper. Basically, my grill looks like
this (but with a Honda badge in the middle), while the older grill looks like
this. Personally, I would really much rather have the cross-hatched grill than the bars. Although, looking at the picture I used as an example, it looks like you might be able to detach the grill...hmm... if I can detach the bar grill as well, then I guess I could just as well swap the grills over. Hmm...
I'll be going to Hong Kong for a week and a half at the end of March through till 9th of April. I've just spend over a grand on two plane tickets, but my mum says she'll pay me back for them so it's not so bad I guess XD I'm just lucky I get paid from work tomorrow.
