So the past couple of days have been moderately interesting, I guess.

One of the cold rooms in the lab broke on Wednesday, so I spent that afternoon moving everything out of it to other cold places around the lab. It was fixed the next day, so I spent Thursday moving everything back in, as well as do a stock check of all the stuff. The fun part was remembering where we stashed everything the day before XD

I also ended up spending a good half an hour inside the cold room stacking and re-arranging all the stuff to make sure they were in the right order and weren't all muddled up. Normally, I'd probably be bored stiff by this kind of job but I realised that I was actually thinking "hey, this is actually kinda fun" as the cold seeped through my lab coat and turned my fingers cold. The biting chill of the cooling machines gave the otherwise menial task a rather interesting edge. It felt vaguely like I was in Crystal Maze or something. Yes, I'm weird XD

During Thursday, there was also a power outage in the lab! Luckily, most of the important machines and computers were on UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supplies) so they were ok. However, the track which carries the samples round wasn't, and there was no power going to them for about half an hour. They're currently knocking down some parts of the hospital and building new buildings, so they probably buggered up somewhere. It was uncanny timing though, as when the power went down the lab manager came round with some prospective employees to show them around the lab XD

Needless to say, it was a fun week for all involved.

Went to archery last night, and decided to put a new string on my bow. The old one seemed to have lost most of its tension and no manner of twisting seemed to make a difference (to the point where the knocking points no longer lined up with my arrow rest) so I just decided to screw it and stick a new string on it. I'd forgotten what it feels like to shoot with a fresh string. It's reminded me that I really need to get an extender for my forward stabiliser (to stop it kicking up so much on release) and some dampeners for the limbs (the vibration goes right through my hand, wrist and arm).

So there's another mundane-filled update on my life XD I wish I had more in the way of social and friends-stuff to do. Though, saying that, I am heading up to Liverpool on Tuesday see peoples, as well as get hammered at the fresher's social at Modo. It'll be nice to see people again, and hopefully will get to meet up with Saz and Paul 'cos I've not seen them in ages!

but now, I think I'll head off to KG Archery and get that stuff for my bow...
