Well, well, well. There's a word for it:
Aquaphilia It's almost disappointing. Basically you just walk through life thinking you are somehow "special" and perhaps even odd. Maybe a little sick, in a cool way. And then it turns out that the thing you've considered as an unnamed and rare quirk is actually just another normal little fetish that has magazines devoted to it. Dammit. I mean, how many times has this happened? Not just with fetishes, but with everything else, as well.
I don't even really want to be special, it just surprises me again and again how similar all people are, in the end.
Anyway, went to see
the Princess and the Frog with a friend yesterday. Unfortunately we went to see the dubbed version, and although it was good, I would have liked the original better. It was a musical, after all. And there were hillbillies, and the accent sadly went missing.
It was pretty standard Disney with happy endings all around and lots of painfully soppy love-talk. The main couple didn't really do much for me, although Tiana was lovely. The bad guy was pretty good, but the best parts were Louis, a crocodile who wanted to play jazz with humans, and Charlotte, the rich, spoiled friend of Tiana's, who had an obsession with getting married to a prince. She had the funniest lines in the movie.
So yes, Disney. The main reasons I wanted to go to see the movie were the "old" drawing style (which was gorgeous) and the movie's setting in New Orleans. Louisiana has fascinated me ever since I read
Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett (and later Interview with the Vampire). And there were same themes in the movie: gumbo, voodoo, alligators, Mardi Gras, old witch living in the swamp area...
I want to go to New Orleans some day. It's a pity it will probably never be the same after that hurricane.
Anyway, after the movie we had sushi, which was tasty as always. I'm on a diet, so I'll probably write a lot about food in the future...
I do know how to ramble, don't I? Sorry.
