'I have many skills'
So, I guess I have to take back my words (or at least some of them) about "not feeling" moving pictures. Maybe I didn't get Merlin, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer or any other series I've watched and liked, but damn, am I getting Xena/Gabrielle.
I've watched about 30 episodes and I'm completely hooked! I LOVE it! I love the idea of two strong women kicking butt, of course, but there's just so much more to it. I know, I know, it's cracky and corny and cheap and the acting is occasionally quite poor and the writers are making careers out of exploiting old, classic tales... But who cares? It's also cute and beautiful and there are pretty women in leather (and not in very much leather, either), and the stories are funny, yet sometimes so touching I have tears in my eyes.
Oh, and Xena and Gabrielle are the most wonderful couple ever! After Sirius and Remus, of course. My fem OTP. I'm not sure which one I like more or even if I want to ship them, since their friendship would be so beautiful, too... eh, who am I kidding? Of course I want to see some hot action!
So why this fandom? Maybe because it's not so active anymore (not dead, either, it seems), and therefore not so annoyingly... obsessive and over the top. Maybe because the friendship reminds me of a old one of my one (willing to die for each other, always together, two sides of a coin... one of those mad and obsessive childhood friendships that you think will never end, you know the thing) without the femslashy parts, of course (and thankfully :D ).
Ah, I didn't really think I could get this excited over... well... anything tv-related anymore, although I do like Buffy a lot. But now I just can't stop watching :D Or course these "episodes" of mine are often short-lived, but I'm going to have fun as long as it lasts.
All the time I just think it can't get any better... and then it does! Oh, them bathing together in a lake, sleeping side by side, bantering and joking... sharing a hot sort-of-vampire bite with obvious moans of pleasure, saving each other's lives... the clear looks of jealousy whenever the other one gets some action.... Gabrielle as an amazon Princess! Xena giving up her brother for Gabrielle! Gabrielle dancing between two hot women! And what? Xena in a beauty pageant? Which in the end is won by a MAN IN DRAG? How could I not love that?
And yes I know I sound deranged :D
