Harry Potter Crafting

Every year, yarn companies come out with new color cards; some of the old colors are retired, and new ones are brought in, much like Crayola does with crayons.  For those that rely on certain colors for Harry Potteresque knitting and crochet projects, it can be a cause for panic  - especially if you're halfway through a Ravenclaw quidditch sweater only to find out you don't have enough bronze, and the stupid yarn company has discontinued the color!

So as the years have come on, I've started paying attention early to the color offerings, hoping to adapt new schemes to favorite knitting patterns.  Now that I have the Charmed Knits book, it becomes a necessity to have access to all the classic colors.

One of the more affordable quality yarn lines is Berroco.  I poked around their website today, and found the following hues in their Ultra Alpaca line.  Ultra Alpaca is 50% superfine alpaca, 50% peruvian highland wool.

Slytherin:  Light Grey 6206
                   Marsh Mix 6296

Ravenclaw:  Chambray 6257
                      Tiger's Eye Mix 6292

Hufflepuff:   Dijon 6253 or Mustard 6230
                     Pitch Black 6245

Gryffindor:  Mustard: 6230
Chianti 6236  or Redwood Mix 6281
