Hello! It's so lovely to hear from you :-)

I'm glad you enjoyed the talk. It took me a long time to write it because it's such an enormous topic, and I've only scratched the surface, but it does cover the sorts of problem I've come up against when writing, and the things I've found interesting in books & TV programmes.

Thank you very much for the recommendation. I'm always on the lookout for the tried and tested! I've had a quick look on Amazon & put a couple on my wish list -- I will definitely be reading them soon. At the moment I'm working my way through Fred Vargas' books. She's an archaeologist and historian, and her USP (LOL) is to take mediaeval ideas and transplant them into modern France. The effect is magical for a history geek like me! I do recommend them if you haven't already read them.

something I've abandoned completely for the time being, although I hope not for ever

I'm sorry to hear you're not writing (though I suspect it's because you're doing other, equally interesting things, like your music). But you have a very special 'voice', and it would be sad if you didn't get back to using it some day. People I've met through WriterConUK are surprised when I read their slash (given that it generally makes my toes curl in a bad way ;-) but I think it was from you that I learned that there is still a lot to be enjoyed in a slash story if the writer is good.

Life is the same old for me, I'm afraid. Hope everything is still going well for you.
