Day 15 - Your dreams
I dream strange things. I often have recurring themes. Like zombie nightmares. All the time, terrifying zombies. I wake up totally panicked and lock my door and curl up to sleep in front of it, in the little alcove, so the door can't be opened. When I really wake up in the morning, I am always slightly confused.
For years, I had this one recurring dream with Peter Pan. At first, I would fly around with him. Then, after I got into that summer where I became obsessed with Super Mario 64, I had to do a triple jump to fly with him and it would wear off. Eventually, it got to a point where I had a dream that I was walking around some fancy party. And there was this little alcove, close to the floor on a sort of split-level. And in it was a tiny pool of water with a mirror. And there was Peter. When I got that first niggling moment of recognition, it was this thrill, this swooping swell in my heart, because for whatever reason, years had gone by and he had disappeared. Then, when I got close, there was awful disappointment and almost betrayal, because the boy in the mirror wasn't Peter after all, or at least not as I knew him. I haven't had one of those in a while. It's a shame. I always looked forward to them.
The other recurring dream I haven't had in awhile is being chased around town by a t-rex. I would be chased, running frantically and hiding and running and hiding from this t-rex, and it would always find me. I once hid in a box in the crawl space of a basement and it magically fit down there and found me. After a time, it became a faceless giant monster of doom that was always just around the corner of buildings and I would run and duck and weave through a city and it would always know where I was ahead of time and I could never get away. I somehow knew, too, that that was the end, it wasn't just me being hunted anymore. I would wake up with my heart racing. Don't miss that shit at all.
